Victoria Park
London, UK
A 90s flat overlooking Victoria Park was thoughtfully remodelled to enhance natural light and create multi-functional spaces that responded to changing modern living needs.
The replacement of interior walls with large pivot and sliding doors, transformed the previously dark and cold north-facing living areas into bright, airy spaces, flooding natural light into the living spaces and creating multi-functional areas that transformed into flexible zones for work, study, and sleeping. The addition of a folding Murphy bed and fold-up desk maximised floor space in the second-bedroom, creating a versatile space that could be opened-up to expand the living space or closed-down creating a private bedroom or office. A continuous oak parquet floor, installed over underfloor heating, unified the spaces, providing a seamless flow and introducing a warm, cohesive materiality throughout.
The bathroom was reconfigured to improve circulation with built-in storage added throughout the flat to reduce clutter and maximise floor space. The entrance hallway, previously dull and functional, was transformed into a striking focal point with an angled wall framing views through the flat as you entered, while fluted wall panels captured the changing light from both the north and south-facing sides, creating a dynamic visual effect. By maximising natural light, the remodelling transformed every room into a warm, welcoming space that can meet the shifting demands placed on residential spaces.
